Founded in 1999, our flagship product was the Vindigo® city guide—one of the first successful consumer applications for mobile devices. Combining great local content from partners such as The New York Times and Mapquest, for over 85 markets including restaurant reviews, movie listings, shops, local information, full-color maps, directions, and above all, a simple and original user interface, Vindigo was an instant classic.

More than two million people have downloaded versions of Vindigo City Guide for the PDA or mobile phone and the service has won more than twenty awards. But Vindigo’s success does not stop there. In 2001, Vindigo recognized that the next generation of mobile phones, powered by technologies such as BREW and Java, would allow developers to create and sell thousands of useful, entertaining, and powerful mobile products for consumers.

Today, Vindigo is one of the best-known and most experienced mobile media brands in the U.S. Leveraging partnerships with wireless carriers and media companies, our proprietary technology, and our years of experience in mobile marketing, Vindigo has successfully expanded its offering from one product to more than twenty different products across every major category of mobile data services. Profitable since 2004, with subscription revenue growing and over 100 paying customers including MasterCard and Cadillac, Vindigo has proved that there is a compelling business model for mobile media services in the U.S.

In August 2004, Vindigo was acquired by For-Side.com Co. Ltd., (JASDAQ: 2330) one of the largest mobile media companies in the world, with operations in Japan, Korea, the U.S., and Europe. In August 2005, Vindigo was merged with fellow For-Side company Zingy, a leader in mobile media, and the combined company was renamed Zingy. In October 2007, Zingy closed down its personalization services division and reorganized under the name of Vindigo.
