Vindigo To Be Bundled with Hewlett-Packard's New Jornada Devices
New York October 4, 2001Vindigo, the leading developer of personal navigation applications for mobile devices, today announced that its popular consumer service will be available for Pocket PC devices, starting at the end of October.
Today, 600,000 registered users access Vindigo via Palm Powered™ devices to find the closest places to eat, shop, and play in twenty major cities. In response to popular demand from Pocket PC users nationwide, Vindigo is pleased to bring its service to the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 platform. Vindigo is also pleased to announce that its software will be bundled on Hewlett-Packard’s new Jornada model hitting retail shelves in October.
Vindigo for Pocket PC has all the core features that have made Vindigo a success on other platforms, such as comprehensive local listings, ratings and reviews, maps, and even directions. Users can tell Vindigo where they are and get information about every great restaurant, bar, and store nearby, as well as every movie playing.
Vindigo for Pocket PC has several new features that take advantage of the power of the Pocket PC platform. Maps are in full color and much more detailed, and navigation, using the embedded browser controls in Pocket PC 2002, is richer and closer to the Web. Over the course of the next 6 months Vindigo will be announcing a host of new content and features unique to Pocket PC. Like previous versions of Vindigo, the service will be continuously updated over the Internet with new information and features when the user syncs. Vindigo for Pocket PC is a premium service. The annual subscription fee will be announced at the time of launch.
