Vindigo Service Allows Verizon
Wireless Subscribers to Find the Best Places to Eat, Shop and Play
in Major Cities
NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2002 - Vindigo, the leading
service provider for delivering location-based content and services
to wireless and mobile devices, today announced the availability
of Vindigo 2.0 for Verizon Wireless' Get It NowSM customers.
Get It Now is offered by Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless
service provider in the U.S. and the leader in mobile data. Now,
Verizon customers gain a wealth of information on where to eat,
shop and play in over 35 major U.S. metropolitan areas - right on
their mobile phone.
Vindigo 2.0 for the Get It Now service from Verizon Wireless has
the same look and feel as the company's popular PDA-based application,
while taking advantage of Verizon Wireless' wireless connectivity
for real-time updates and unlimited access to Vindigo content. By
simply entering their current location, Verizon Wireless customers
can access extensive entertainment options, including restaurant
reviews, movie reviews and show times, museum exhibits and live
music information. Vindigo 2.0 also includes detailed information
about services such as locations of the closest ATMs, gas stations
and copy shops. Vindigo 2.0 comes complete with ratings and reviews
from brand-name content providers, full-color maps and driving directions
to any listing.
"For a few extra dollars a month, Verizon Wireless customers can
now take advantage of the Get It Now service to download Vindigo
2.0 and find whatever they need - whether it's the closest ATM or
the best outdoor dining spot," said Jason Devitt, chief executive
officer of Vindigo. "This is all about convenience - customers can
easily access information about an unfamiliar city in minutes. The
days are gone of eating in a bad restaurant or getting caught without
cash while traveling."
Verizon Wireless customers using Get It Now-enabled phones, including
the Verizon Z-800 and Motorola T720, can select and download Vindigo
2.0 over the air. The Vindigo subscription fee is $3.75 per month
and appears on the customers' monthly mobile phone bill. Get It
Now phones are available through more than 1,200 Verizon Wireless
Communications Stores, at participating Radio Shack stores or via
the Web at www.verizonwireless.com.
