Vindigo's Free Personal Navigator Service for Palm Mobile Devices Rolls Out to Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

zagat.com, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Washington Post, InShop, and ClubPlanet.com join Vindigo's growing list of lifestyle content providers.

New York—June 5, 2000—Vindigo, the leading developer of personal navigation applications for handheld devices, today extended its free mobile service to include four new major metropolitan cities: Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. The existing service, already available for New York City, has also been expanded with new lifestyle information from well-known content providers. Vindigo brings users in these five metropolitan areas the timely, local content they need to make fast, informed decisions about where to Eat, Shop, and Play. Users can download the free application for any of the five cities from the Vindigo website at www.vindigo.com.

Vindigo draws its lifestyle information from a number of trusted sources, including zagat.com for dining information and restaurant reviews, inshop.com for its dynamic shopping directory and clubplanet.com, delivering up-to-the-minute details about city nightlife. Vindigo also offers content from SF Gate, the on-line companion to the San Francisco Chronicle, washingtonpost.com, the online component of The Washington Post, and nytoday.com, a part of New York Times Digital, the Internet division of the New York Times Company. Vindigo makes all of this content available through its intuitive and fun application, designed specifically for handheld devices, to guide users to the nearest and best restaurants, bars, nightclubs, stores, and movies playing in their city.

Each of Vindigo's partners bring rich and deep content to the product. In some cities, users will have the opportunity to select from multiple content providers. For example, in San Francisco users will be able to select restaurant reviews from SF Gate as well as Zagat. Similarly, users in New York will be able to continue to rely on restaurant information and reviews from nytoday.com or use the newly added Zagat's New York content.

"Vindigo is the perfect way to find things to do, places to go and movies to see in a city, using a device that people carry with them wherever they go. We launched the first version of Vindigo New York in late March in association with nytoday.com, and currently have over 40,000 registered users," said Jason Devitt, co-founder and CEO of Vindigo. "With our new content partners we are enhancing the service we are already delivering to thousands of New Yorkers and launching versions for four new major metropolitan cities. In the coming months, as we continue to add new cities to the service, users can also expect to see even more exciting new content and capabilities being added to Vindigo."

Vindigo Makes Everyone a Native
Combining the ease and convenience of mobile devices with original content, in-depth information and expert reviews, Vindigo offers individuals an insider's guide and insight into things to do and places to go in major cities. It instantly adapts to a user's location and interests to serve as a lifestyle resource for on-the-fly activities and decisions. Vindigo offers listings, reviews, and directions to popular restaurants, bars, stores and movies. And, if users aren't sure what they are looking for, Vindigo can make suggestions based on where the user is and what they want to do.

Eat, Shop and Play--All From Your Fingertips
Vindigo's main screen offers three options for navigating to the user's desired action-Eat, Shop, and Play. Users tell Vindigo where they are, by selecting the closest intersection or neighborhood, and what they want to do. Vindigo can then make suggestions based on their interests and provide directions to the specified destination. Users can also bookmark regularly visited locations, such as home and work.

Within each section, Vindigo also allows users to record their own ratings, opinions, and thoughts about any restaurant, bar, or shop visited for later reference:

Eat—Provides listings and reviews for thousands of restaurants, delis and coffee shops.

Shop—Finds the nearest places to buy books, wine, music, flowers and more.

Play—Delivers entertainment ideas with listings of great bars and clubs with a brief description of each venue. The Play section also includes complete local listings for every movie playing, with show times for the nearest theater.

Vindigo also allows users to beam the application with the Give function to a friend with a Palm-compatible device so that they can begin accessing the information immediately. To let a new user begin experiencing the benefits of Vindigo immediately, the restaurant section and current movie listings are sent along with the application. Users can upgrade to the complete application for free at any time by downloading it from the Vindigo Web site.

How it Works: Download and Go…Everywhere
Vindigo is available today for users of Palm and Palm-compatible handheld devices. By simply downloading the application from the Vindigo Web site (www.vindigo.com), users can find thousands of places to go and things to do in their city. Each time a user syncs his or her handheld, any new information is automatically downloaded onto the device. Vindigo's differential synchronization technology, VSync, keeps sync time to a minimum by only downloading new and updated information. The application also uses proprietary data compression technology to minimize the memory used.

System Requirements
Vindigo is compatible with all devices based on the Palm OS™ including the Palm Professional, Palm III, Palm V, and Palm VII (in offline mode) series from Palm Inc., the Handspring Visor, IBM WorkPad, and the Symbol Technologies SPT 1500 and 1700 series. It also supports wireless syncronization using the Omnisky wireless platform or any Palm-compatible modem such as the Novatel Minstrel. Regardless of a user's preferred connection method, Vindigo ensures that the information is accurate and up to date every time a consumer syncs their device. Minimum system requirements for the desktop component of the software are Palm OS v2.0.5, Windows 95 or 98 (Windows NT users require service pack 3), Netscape Navigator 3.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0, and Palm Hotsync Manager 2.0. Vindigo takes up at least 410K of memory on a Palm-compatible device, the exact amount depending on the options a user selects.

Availability
Vindigo is available immediately, free-of-charge, from the Vindigo Web site at www.vindigo.com and from leading Palm sites including Handango (www.handango.com) and PalmGear HQ (www.palmgear.com).
