Vindigo also unveiled a co-marketing partnership with Rand McNally to further the adoption of GPS for personal technology services.

With GPS, Vindigo immediately knows where users are located, without requiring them to manually specify their nearest intersection. This new functionality allows all GPS-enabled Vindigo users to save time searching for destinations and offers particular value to visitors unfamiliar with the local area.

To activate the auto-location capabilities, users simply enable GPS via the location drop-down menu within Vindigo. Once activated, the auto-location option can be used to find the closest restaurants, shops, movie theatres and more. Even if the GPS feature is active, users still have the option to manually enter neighborhoods or street intersections.

Vindigo support for GPS will be active beginning Sept. 11. Vindigo is compatible with any National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA)-compatible GPS receiver that uses the standard Palm handheld serial interface, including the Rand McNally Streetfinder® GPS.
