Vindigo Personalizes Location-Based Service;
Adds Portland and San Diego to Growing List of New Cities
NEW YORK CITY, Jan. 16, 2001 - Vindigo, developer of the
leading personal navigation platform for handheld devices, introduces
its first set of personalization features for the location-based
service. Vindigo users can now create lists of their favorite
places, select individual channels, change their starting locations
on the fly, and submit new listings to Vindigo via their Palm
OS ® handheld computers. These features are the first of several
planned enhancements supporting Vindigo's goal of personalization.
In addition to the new features, Vindigo has also added Portland
and San Diego to its growing list of cities. Now, users in both
cities can download the best places to eat, shop and play from
www.vindigo.com.
Vindigo's New Features
· MyList: Allows users to specify favorite listings in all categories.
To add a listing to their personal lists, users tap on the Notes
tab of any listing and check the MyList checkbox. The restaurant,
bar or shop is then earmarked for future reference.
· Submit New Listing: If users wish to submit restaurant, store
and nightlife destinations for inclusion in Vindigo, they simply
click on the drop-down menu, select Options and choose Submit
New Listing. The names, addresses and phone numbers for these
shops, bars or nightclubs are sent back to Vindigo when users
next sync their handhelds.
· What's Nearby: To identify venues near a selected listing,
users simply click on the underlined cross-streets shown on that
listing's Details page. The selected venue then becomes the user's
current location.
· Subscription Management: During the registration process on
Vindigo's Web site, users can choose any combination of eat, shop
and play to match their personal interests. The application becomes
a customized tool to fit each user's lifestyle.
