New York City—April 28, 2000—Vindigo, the leading developer of personal navigation applications for handheld devices, today announced that CEO and co-founder, Jason Devitt, will be a featured presenter at the Venture Downtown 2000 conference, taking place at the Hilton New York on May 1st at 9:00 a.m. Venture Downtown is an exclusive forum for cutting-edge new media companies and attracts an audience of influencers, prospective investors and decision makersfrom venture capital firms and investment banks to business development professionals.

A recent report from The Kelsey Group of Princeton, NJ predicts that advertising on mobile devices will become an $18 billion industry by 2005, with $6 billion of that revenue coming from local advertising. Vindigo is the first company in the US to deliver true location-sensitive advertising to commercially available mobile devices, as Mr. Devitt will demonstrate. Additionally, in his speech, Mr. Devitt will discuss the company's vision of how millions of people will come to depend on personal navigation applications like Vindigo to find everything they need in the world around them.

Founded in June 1999, Vindigo creates software for mobile devices that allows people to explore, enjoy, and connect to the world around them. The company's core product, also called Vindigo, transforms Palm Inc.® handheld devices and compatibles into personal navigators. Tell Vindigo where you are and what you want to do and it can deliver timely, location-sensitive information about thousands of places to go and things to do in the major metropolitan areas that Vindigo serves.

The company launched the first version of Vindigo for New York on March 27th, in partnership with NYToday.com, the online entertainment guide of New York Times Digital, the Internet division of The New York Times Company. New versions of Vindigo for the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago and Washington, DC are expected in June 2000.

"Vindigo earned a presenting company slot at the most competitive Venture Downtown yet,'' said NYNMA's Executive Director, Alice Rodd O'Rourke. "The company's vision of local content delivery and mobile advertising, paired with its elegant technology is defining this space. We look forward to introducing them to the industry influencers we're gathering in New York.''
